Anne Frank: A History for Today is a unique partnership between the Institute for Holocaust Education (IHE), the University of South Carolina’s College of Education Anne Frank Center, and the Anne Frank House in Amsterdam. This bilingual (English and Spanish), easy-to-assemble traveling exhibit brings Anne Frank’s story to life while placing it within the broader context of the Holocaust and World War II.
Through powerful photographs from Anne’s childhood and excerpts from her diary, the 32-panel exhibit explores the impact of Nazi persecution, prejudice, and war on one family. By connecting history to personal experience, the exhibit encourages students and visitors to reflect on themes of human rights, tolerance, and civic responsibility.
The program begins with a two-day peer-guide training workshop led by IHE’s Education Director and support staff using a curriculum provided by The Anne Frank House. Students are trained to serve as exhibit guides, developing leadership skills while learning to facilitate meaningful conversations about history, identity, and social responsibility.
Hosted primarily by middle and high schools for a two-week period, the interactive exhibit encourages students to ask important questions, think critically about Anne Frank’s experiences, and consider the relevance of her story today. Schools are encouraged to host a community evening, providing students with an opportunity to share their knowledge and engage with families, friends and the general public.
The exhibit travels to one to two locations each month and can also be hosted by libraries, museums, and theaters. A minimum of 800 square feet of exhibit space is required, with 1,000 square feet or more preferred to maximize visitor engagement and accessibility.
The Anne Frank: A History for Today exhibit travels to approximately two locations each month during the school year, based on availability.

The exhibit is designed for middle and high school students (grades 6–12), however libraries, museums and theatres can be accommodated.
There is no cost to host the exhibit.
This kit includes photographs showcasing the setup of the Anne Frank exhibit. These photos are available for use in newsletters, school communications, and social media posts to help highlight students’ learning experiences, celebrate community engagement, and raise awareness of the program.
