In a special arrangement with the Heartland Holocaust Education Fund, the Institute for Holocaust Education will now oversee the educational initiatives at the Nebraska Holocaust Memorial site at the Wyuka Cemetery in Lincoln. The Nebraska Holocaust Memorial was funded by the citizens of the State of Nebraska and the Heartland Holocaust Educational Fund founders Frances and Sam Fried. The Nebraska Holocaust Education Consortium teachers will post lessons on the IHE website to help students prepare before visiting the Memorial and the IHE will arrange tours to the site.
Sam Fried stated, “We at the Heartland Holocaust Education Fund are pleased that the IHE under the leadership of Beth [Seldin] Dotan is spearheading the educational programming for the Nebraska Holocaust Memorial in Wyuka. They have demonstrated a level of excellence in using this beautiful memorial as an educational tool in making sure that today’s youth learn the lessons of the Holocaust. It is only through this education that we can ensure that an atrocity like the Holocaust will not be repeated. We look forward to collaborating with the IHE in the future.”
