Teaching about the Holocaust

Participants will explore historical content, current methodologies, rationale, literature and technological resources for teaching the history of the Holocaust. Highlights of the conference include presentations from a Holocaust Survivor and United States Holocaust Memorial Museum Educator(USHMM), Christina Chavarria. Experienced Nebraska teachers, who are members of the Nebraska Holocaust Education Consortium, will present model lessons.
Bea Karp, Child Survivor of the Holocaust will give her testimony at First Christian Church from 4:15 –5:45 at the conclusion of the workshop. This segment of the program is open to the public.
Registered workshop participants are eligible to join a trip to Washington, D.C. and the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum on October 12-14. The cost of the trip is $525 with possible scholarship opportunities. Registration for the trip to Washington, D.C. is due by August 31, 2010.
