Student Poem

For Students

In addition to benefitting from the instruction by their teachers and materials and pedagogy from the IHE, students may participate in IHE programs throughout the school year.  Whether by attending a dramatic performance, viewing an exhibit in our gallery, or hearing the first-hand account of a Holocaust survivor, students who take part in the IHE’s programs learn about the human side of the Holocaust and take away lessons to implement in their own lives.

Additionally, the Institute for Holocaust Education hosts “The Tribute to the Rescuers” High School Essay Contest.  This annual nation-wide essay contest for 9th-12th grades offers students the opportunity to explore through personal essays an historical event that demonstrates how a single person can take a stand against injustice and work to effect change.  Cash prizes are awarded to the winners of the contest which has attracted more than 2,200 participants since the contest began in 2003.
